Carpentry

Carpentry hardware brands

Hardware is usually listed as free text at the end of a quotation rather than as a priced line. That matters, because a per-foot carpentry rate means nothing until you know what is inside it.

Why the cheapest rate is not always cheapest

A quote at $310 per foot with unbranded hinges can cost more in real terms than one at $443 per foot with premium hardware throughout. Ask every contractor to state the brand and model on the quote, then compare.

Blum

Austrian hardware brand, widely considered top tier for hinges, runners and lift systems. Soft-close is standard across the range.

Hettich

German hardware brand, comparable in grade to Blum and common in Singapore carpentry.

Häfele

German brand supplying hinges, handles and cabinet accessories across a wide price range.

Higold

Known for kitchen accessories — lifting dish racks, pull-out baskets, corner units.

DTC

Mid-tier hardware brand, frequently specified where a quote needs to hit a lower per-foot rate.

Soft-close

A damper that stops a door or drawer slamming. Standard on premium hardware, an add-on lower down the range.

We read this automatically

The scanner reads the notes at the end of each quotation, works out the hardware grade, and flags when per-foot rates are not comparable as they stand.
