Hacking & masonry

Hacking

Breaking out and removing existing finishes — tiles, walls, or built-in structures — before new work starts. Usually one of the first line items in a renovation quote, and priced as a lot rather than per unit.

What to check across quotes

Check whether disposal of the debris is included in the hacking price or billed separately. It is a common gap between quotes.

How contractors write it

The same work appears under different wording from quote to quote. Our scanner treats all of these as the same item:

Comparing this across quotes

Upload your quotations and we line up hacking — and every other item — side by side, so you can see who is charging more for the same work.
